Prep Time

  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Chilling Time: 2 hours
  • Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Heatproof bowl (for melting chocolate)
  • Saucepan
  • Spatula
  • Baking dish or silicone mold
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dark or milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • ¼ cup crushed biscuits or cookies (optional)

Ingredient Notes

  • Chocolate: Use high-quality chocolate for a smooth and glossy finish.
  • Condensed milk: Adds creaminess and helps the block set perfectly.
  • Add-ins: Mix almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, or even dried cranberries for texture.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan:
Line a small baking dish or mold with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. Melt the Chocolate:
Place chocolate chips and butter in a heatproof bowl. Set over a saucepan with simmering water (double boiler method). Stir until smooth and melted.
  3. Add Condensed Milk and Vanilla:
Remove from heat and stir in condensed milk and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Mix in Add-ins:
Fold in chopped nuts or crushed biscuits if using.
  5. Pour and Set:
Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Tap gently to remove air bubbles.
  6. Chill:
Refrigerate for 2–3 hours or until firm.
  7. Cut and Serve:
Remove from the pan, cut into small blocks, and enjoy!
