  • 40–45 saltine crackers (or matzo crackers)

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Β½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

  • Sea salt (optional, for topping)

  • Holiday sprinkles or crushed candy canes (optional)

1. Prepare the Pan

  • Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C)

  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment

  • Arrange crackers in a single layer, covering the pan completely

2. Make the Toffee

  • Bring to a boil, stirring constantly

  • Boil for 3 minutes until thick and glossy

3. Bake

  • Carefully pour hot toffee over crackers

  • Spread evenly with a spatula

4. Add Chocolate

  • Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top

5. Finish
