PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLOPPY JOES

All the flavor of a Philly cheesesteak—savory beef, caramelized onions, peppers, and melted cheese—packed into a saucy, handheld sloppy joe. Perfect for weeknight dinners, game day, or feeding a hungry crowd.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or thinly sliced ribeye

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

  • ½ cup beef broth

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 4–6 soft sandwich buns

  • 1½ cups shredded provolone or Cheez Whiz

  • Optional: sliced pickles for topping


👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook Veggies
    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    Add onions and bell peppers, cooking 5–7 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.
    Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.

  2. Cook Beef
    Add ground beef or thinly sliced ribeye to the skillet.
    Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
    Cook until beef is browned and fully cooked, breaking up ground beef as needed.

  3. Make Sauce
    Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard.
    Simmer 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened and saucy.

  4. Add Cheese
    Reduce heat to low and stir in shredded provolone (or Cheez Whiz) until melted and creamy.

  5. Assemble Sloppy Joes
    Spoon beef mixture onto buns and top with extra cheese or pickles if desired.
    Serve immediately—messy, gooey, and delicious!
