How to prepare aloe vera juice step by step

Posted on April 12, 2026

Aloe vera juice is a refreshing, nutrient-rich drink known for its potential benefits for digestion, hydration, and skin health. Made from fresh aloe vera gel, this natural beverage is light, slightly tangy, and can be customized with flavors like lemon or honey. Preparing it at home ensures purity and avoids added sugars or preservatives found in store-bought versions.

⏱️ Prep Time

  • Preparation: 10–15 minutes
  • Blending: 2–3 minutes
  • Total Time: ~15–20 minutes

🧰 Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Spoon
  • Blender
  • Strainer (optional)
  • Glass jar or bottle

🥥 Ingredients

  • 1 large fresh aloe vera leaf
  • 1–2 cups cold water
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

📝 Ingredient Notes

  • Aloe Vera Leaf: Choose thick, fleshy leaves. Fresh is always best.
  • Honey: Adds natural sweetness; adjust to taste.
  • Lemon Juice: Enhances flavor and reduces bitterness.
  • Water: You can adjust the amount depending on how concentrated you want the juice.

⚠️ Important: The yellow latex (just under the skin) can be bitter and may cause stomach discomfort—remove it properly.

👩‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1: Wash the Leaf

Rinse the aloe vera leaf thoroughly under running water to remove dirt.

Step 2: Trim Edges

Cut off the thorny sides using a sharp knife.

Step 3: Remove the Skin

Slice the leaf lengthwise and carefully peel away the thick green outer skin.

Step 4: Extract the Gel

Scoop out the clear, jelly-like gel using a spoon.

Step 5: Rinse the Gel

Wash the gel pieces under water to remove any yellow residue (latex).

Step 6: Blend

Add the aloe gel to a blender with water. Blend until smooth.

Step 7: Flavor (Optional)

Add honey and lemon juice, then blend again briefly.

Step 8: Strain (Optional)

Strain the juice if you prefer a smoother texture.

Step 9: Serve

Pour into a glass and serve chilled, or store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
