Adrian Laughed at My Threat—Until His Attorney Told Him What I Had Already Done

PART 2: Adrian Laughed at My Threat—Until His Attorney Told Him What I Had Already Done

Five minutes passed.

Then ten.

Adrian never came.

Vanessa never came either.

Instead, my attorney called.

>

“Claire, are you ready?”

>

I looked at myself in the mirror of my car.

My hair was still uneven.

My face was still swollen from trying not to cry.

But something inside me had changed.

“Yes,” I said.

“Then come inside.”

I walked into Westbridge Legal Group without looking back at the Blackwood Logistics tower.

Adrian had spent years believing his money could solve anything.

He was about to discover that some consequences couldn’t be negotiated away.

My attorney placed a thick folder on the table.

“Everything is here.”

I opened it.

Bank records.

Corporate documents.

Private messages.

Photographs.

And a forensic accounting report.

For nearly two years, Adrian had been secretly transferring money from company accounts into a private investment account.

At first, the amounts were small.

Then they became larger.

Much larger.

The account was connected to Vanessa.

I stared at the documents.

“How much?”

My attorney hesitated.

“Just over three million dollars.”

I closed my eyes.

Three million.

While I had been worrying about our marriage, Adrian had been quietly building a financial escape plan.

But there was something even worse.

My attorney slid another document toward me.

“This is the emergency injunction.”

It temporarily restricted Adrian from transferring certain marital and jointly controlled assets.

“He can’t sell the house.”

“He can’t move the investment accounts.”

“And he can’t dispose of several company-related assets currently under review.”

I nodded.

Then my attorney looked at me seriously.

“There is one more thing.”

“What?”

“The incident at the office.”

He pointed to a separate file.

“Security footage confirms what happened.”

I stared at him.

“Vanessa attacked me.”

“We know.”

“And Adrian watched.”

My attorney’s expression hardened.

“That’s exactly why this matters.”

Then his phone rang.

He answered.

A few seconds later, he looked at me.

“Adrian is here.”

My heart skipped.

“He came?”

“He’s downstairs.”

A moment later, the office door opened.

Adrian walked inside.

For the first time in years, he didn’t look powerful.

He looked frightened.

“Claire.”

I said nothing.

He looked at my attorney.

“What exactly did you file?”

My attorney calmly replied.

“You should ask your own counsel.”

Adrian turned back to me.

“Claire, please. We can talk.”

I looked at him.

“You had five minutes.”

“I thought you were bluffing.”

“I wasn’t.”

He lowered his voice.

“I made mistakes.”

“No.”

I shook my head.

“You made choices.”

His face tightened.

Then he said something I never expected.

“Vanessa is leaving the company.”

I almost smiled.

“That isn’t enough.”

“She’ll never bother you again.”

“That isn’t enough either.”

He stared at me.

“What do you want?”

I finally stood.

“I want the truth.”

He looked confused.

“About what?”

“Everything.”

I placed the folder on the table.

“Every account. Every transfer. Every lie.”

Adrian stared at the documents.

Then his phone began ringing.

He looked at the screen.

His expression suddenly changed.

It was the company’s board chairman.

Adrian answered.

“Hello?”

He listened.

His face became completely pale.

“What?”

He looked at me.

Then slowly lowered the phone.

“They suspended me.”

I said nothing.

He whispered, “Claire…”

I picked up my bag.

“You should have taken my five-minute warning seriously.”

As I walked toward the door, my attorney stopped me.

“Claire.”

I turned.

“There is one final document you haven’t seen.”

He handed me a sealed envelope.

I opened it.

Inside was a copy of an old agreement Adrian had signed before we were married.

And one sentence was highlighted.

If Adrian ever committed financial fraud against the marriage, certain assets would automatically transfer to Claire.

I stared at the page.

My attorney smiled faintly.

“Your husband didn’t just lose his marriage today.”

“He may have just lost the fortune he spent years building.”
