BANANA PUDDING TACOS

Posted on April 18, 2026

Banana Pudding Tacos are a fun, creative dessert that combines two favorites—classic banana pudding and crispy taco shells. Instead of serving banana pudding in a bowl, this recipe turns it into handheld dessert tacos filled with creamy vanilla pudding, fresh bananas, whipped cream, and crunchy cookie or waffle shells.

They’re sweet, playful, and perfect for parties, family gatherings, or when you want a dessert that stands out. Every bite gives you a mix of creamy, crunchy, and fruity textures that taste like a banana pudding sundae in taco form.

Prep Time

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Chill Time: 30–60 minutes (optional but recommended)
  • Total Time: About 1 hour

Equipment Needed

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk or hand mixer
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spoon or piping bag
  • Baking sheet (if making taco shells)
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

For the Taco Shells

  • 6 small flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

(Or use waffle cones, waffle bowls, or cookie taco shells for a shortcut)

For the Banana Filling

  • 2–3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz)
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped cream or whipped topping

Optional Toppings

  • Crushed vanilla wafers or graham crackers
  • Caramel drizzle
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Chopped nuts
  • Extra whipped cream

Ingredient Notes

Bananas

Use ripe but firm bananas so they hold shape inside the taco.

Vanilla Pudding

Instant pudding works best for quick preparation and creamy texture.

Tortilla Shells

When baked, tortillas become crispy like a dessert taco shell.

Instructions

Step 1: Make Taco Shells

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brush tortillas with melted butter.
  3. Mix sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over tortillas.
  4. Drape tortillas over oven rack or taco mold to form shape.
  5. Bake for 8–10 minutes until crisp and golden.
  6. Let cool completely.

Step 2: Prepare Pudding Filling

  1. Whisk vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until thickened.
  2. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. Fold in whipped cream for extra lightness.

Step 3: Assemble Tacos

  1. Spoon or pipe pudding mixture into cooled taco shells.
  2. Add banana slices on top or inside filling.
  3. Sprinkle crushed wafers or cookies.

Step 4: Add Toppings

Finish with:

  • Caramel drizzle
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Extra whipped cream
  • Nuts or cookie crumbs

Step 5: Serve

Serve immediately for the best crunch, or chill for 30 minutes for a softer texture.
