AMISH CINNAMON BREAD

A tender quick bread with a thick cinnamon swirl and crackly sugar top.

🛒 Ingredients

Cinnamon Sugar

  • ⅓ cup sugar

  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Bread Batter

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (or oil)

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)

  • Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan

  • Mix cinnamon sugar and set aside

2️⃣ Make Batter

  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy

  • Beat in egg and vanilla

  • Mix in buttermilk

  • Stir in flour, baking soda & salt

3️⃣ Layer

  • Pour half batter into pan

  • Sprinkle half cinnamon sugar

  • Add remaining batter

  • Top with remaining cinnamon sugar

  • Swirl gently with knife

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake 45–50 minutes until toothpick comes out clean

5️⃣ Cool

  • Cool 10 minutes, then remove from pan
