I Found the Contract for My Unborn Baby—Then My Husband Told Me Why He Needed Me to Sign It

PART 2: I Found the Contract for My Unborn Baby—Then My Husband Told Me Why He Needed Me to Sign It

For several seconds, I couldn’t move.

I kept staring at the signature.

My name.

My information.

My handwriting.

>

But I had never signed that contract.

>

I looked at my husband.

“What is this?”

He closed the office door behind him.

“You shouldn’t have come here.”

I stepped backward.

“You told me you never wanted children.”

His expression changed.

“I didn’t.”

“Then why did you celebrate when I became pregnant?”

He didn’t answer.

I pointed at the folder.

“And why does this say our baby is supposed to be transferred immediately after birth?”

His silence was terrifying.

Then he finally said:

“Because you don’t understand what you’ve agreed to.”

“I agreed to nothing.”

He walked toward me.

“You signed it.”

“No, I didn’t.”

He looked directly into my eyes.

“Your signature says otherwise.”

My hands began shaking.

I grabbed the contract again.

There were pages of legal language, financial arrangements, medical authorizations, and custody provisions.

But one sentence made my stomach drop.

The baby would be placed under another person’s guardianship immediately after birth.

“Who?” I whispered.

My husband looked away.

“That’s not important.”

“It is the only thing that’s important!”

He finally said a name.

And when I heard it, I felt as though the floor had disappeared beneath me.

It was someone I knew.

Someone who had been around us for years.

Someone who had always treated me with unusual kindness.

I suddenly remembered every strange conversation.

Every time that person asked about my pregnancy.

Every time my husband disappeared for a few hours.

Every time he told me I was imagining things.

I realized this hadn’t started when I became pregnant.

It had been planned long before that.

I grabbed my phone.

“I’m calling my attorney.”

My husband immediately reached for it.

“Don’t.”

I stepped away.

“Touch me again and I’ll call the police.”

He froze.

For the first time, I saw fear in his eyes.

Not anger.

Fear.

I left his office with the folder hidden inside my purse.

That night, I didn’t go home.

I went directly to my attorney.

She read every page twice.

Then she looked at me.

“Did you ever sign this?”

“No.”

“Are you absolutely certain?”

“Yes.”

She leaned back slowly.

“Then we have a much bigger problem.”

My heart pounded.

“What?”

She pointed to the final page.

“This contract was notarized six months ago.”

I stared at her.

“That can’t be possible.”

“It gets worse.”

She turned the page around.

“The notary’s name is someone connected to your husband’s law firm.”

Then she lowered her voice.

“And there is one more document you need to see.”

She opened another file.

Inside was a medical record.

My name was on it.

But the date was from before I had even discovered I was pregnant.

I looked at my attorney.

“What does this mean?”

She didn’t answer immediately.

Then she said:

“Someone knew you were going to become pregnant before you did.”

My entire body went cold.

Because suddenly I understood something even more frightening.

My husband hadn’t simply been preparing for my baby.

He had been preparing for this pregnancy long before that positive test ever appeared.

And the next morning, my attorney discovered exactly who had ordered the plan.
