1. Prepare the Crust

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.

  • Press dough firmly into the pan.

2. Make the Apple Filling

  • In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch.

3. Prepare Crumb Topping

  • Mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

  • Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form.

4. Assemble

  • Spread apples evenly over warm crust.

  • Sprinkle crumb topping generously over apples.

5. Bake

  • Bake 45–50 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden.

  • Cool completely before slicing (very important for clean cuts).
