Chocolate Marble Cake Recipe

This marble cake is moist, tender, and lightly sweet, with rich chocolate ribbons swirled through vanilla batter. Simple, elegant, and always a hit.

🍳 Ingredients

Vanilla Batter

  • 1¾ cups sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup milk

Chocolate Batter

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

  • ¼ cup hot milk

  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

1. Prep

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease and flour a bundt, loaf, or 9×13-inch pan.


2. Make Vanilla Batter

  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

  • Mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk.


3. Make Chocolate Batter

  • Remove 1½ cups of vanilla batter.

  • Mix cocoa powder with hot milk and sugar.

  • Stir into reserved batter.


4. Marble

  • Alternate spoonfuls of vanilla and chocolate batter in pan.

  • Swirl gently with a knife (don’t overmix).


5. Bake

  • Bake 45–50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.


6. Cool

  • Cool 15 minutes in pan, then transfer to rack.
