Creamy Homemade Eggnog

Classic eggnog made from scratch with real eggs, cream, and warm spices.

🛒 Ingredients

  • 4 large egg yolks

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg (plus extra for topping)

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

Optional (Adult Version)

  • ½ cup rum, bourbon, or brandy


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Whisk Yolks

  • Whisk egg yolks with sugar until pale and creamy

2️⃣ Heat Milk

  • Heat milk, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon & salt over medium heat

  • Do not boil

3️⃣ Temper Eggs

  • Slowly whisk hot milk into egg mixture

  • Return everything to pan

4️⃣ Cook

  • Cook on low, stirring constantly, until slightly thick

  • Remove from heat (do not boil)

5️⃣ Finish

  • Stir in vanilla (and alcohol if using)

  • Chill at least 1 hour
