Pull-Apart Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (not hot)
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 egg (room temperature)

For Brushing:

  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Optional: garlic powder + parsley for garlic butter rolls

🧈 Instructions

1. Activate yeast

  • Mix warm milk + sugar + yeast in a bowl.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2. Make the dough

  • Add the egg, melted butter, salt, and flour.
  • Mix and knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
    (Dough should be slightly sticky but not wet.)

3. First rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl.
  • Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

4. Shape the rolls

  • Punch the dough down.
  • Divide into 12–15 equal balls.
  • Arrange balls in a greased round or square baking pan, close together so they touch.

5. Second rise

  • Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes until puffy.

6. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown on top.

7. Finish

  • Immediately brush hot rolls with melted butter.
  • For garlic butter: mix butter + garlic powder + parsley and brush over rolls.
