Emiliano stared at the screens.
For the first few minutes, nothing seemed unusual.
Rosa moved quietly through the kitchen, washing dishes and preparing lunch.
Martina sat at the dining table doing homework.
Daniela was on the living room floor, drawing pictures with colored pencils.
Everything looked normal.
Too normal.
Emiliano leaned closer to the monitor.
“Keep watching,” he whispered.
His head of security nodded.
Then something happened.
Patricia entered the room.
She looked around carefully before closing the door behind her.
Emiliano immediately stiffened.
Patricia walked toward the girls with a smile that looked completely different from the one she had shown him that morning.
“Girls,” she said softly, “your father won’t be coming back for several days.”
Martina looked up.
“But Dad said only a few days.”
Patricia smiled.
“He says many things.”
Emiliano’s face hardened.
Then Patricia reached into her purse and placed something on the table.
A small velvet jewelry box.
His heart dropped.
“That belongs to me,” he whispered.
The bracelet Patricia had claimed was missing was sitting inside the box.
But before Emiliano could speak, Rosa entered the room.
Patricia quickly closed the box.
“Rosa,” she said sharply, “why don’t you take the girls upstairs?”
Rosa didn’t move.
Instead, she looked directly at Patricia.
“No.”
Emiliano’s eyes widened.
Rosa had never spoken to Patricia like that.
Patricia’s smile disappeared.
“You work for this family.”
“I know,” Rosa replied calmly. “And that’s exactly why I won’t let you do this.”
Daniela immediately moved closer to Rosa.
Martina grabbed her hand.
Emiliano stared at the screen, barely breathing.
“What is going on?” he whispered.
Patricia stepped toward Rosa.
“You should have stayed quiet.”
Rosa looked at the girls.
Then she said something that made Emiliano’s blood run cold.
“Your father deserves to know the truth.”
Patricia suddenly lunged toward the camera’s blind spot.
But Rosa was faster.
She pulled a small envelope from behind the bookshelf.
Emiliano recognized it immediately.
It was the same envelope his late wife had left behind years earlier.
Except he had never known it existed.
Rosa handed it to Martina.
“Your mother told me to protect this until your father was ready.”
Emiliano stood up so quickly that his chair crashed backward.
“My wife?”
The security chief looked at him.
“Sir… should we go in?”
Emiliano stared at the screen.
“No.”
His voice trembled.
“Not yet.”
On the monitor, Patricia suddenly began crying.
But Rosa didn’t comfort her.
Instead, she turned toward the girls and whispered:
“Your mother knew Patricia would eventually try to take everything from your father.”
Emiliano’s stomach twisted.
Patricia wasn’t merely jealous of Rosa.
She wasn’t simply suspicious of the maid.
She had been hiding something.
Something involving his daughters.
Something his wife had discovered before she died.
Then Martina opened the envelope.
She pulled out a single handwritten letter.
Her eyes widened.
And as she read the first sentence aloud, Emiliano felt the entire world stop.
“My dear Emiliano, if you are seeing this, it means Patricia has finally made her move…”
Emiliano covered his mouth.
The woman he was preparing to marry had just been exposed by a letter written by the woman he had buried years ago.
But the next sentence was even more terrifying.
“Do not trust anyone who tells you Rosa is the danger.”
Emiliano slowly turned toward his security chief.
“Lock every door.”
Because suddenly, he wasn’t watching his house anymore.
He was watching a trap.
