Posted on October 5, 2025

Golden, crispy fries paired with a creamy, tangy dipping sauce are the ultimate comfort food. Whether baked, air-fried, or deep-fried, these fries are seasoned to perfection and served with a flavorful homemade sauce that beats any store-bought dip. Perfect as a snack, side dish, or party appetizer!

Prep Time

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20–25 minutes
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Servings: 4

Equipment

  • Knife & cutting board
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet (or air fryer basket)
  • Small bowl (for sauce)
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

For Fries

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

For Dipping Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt & pepper

Ingredient Notes

  • Potatoes – Russet or Maris Piper work best for crisp, fluffy fries.
  • Oil – Olive oil is healthy, but avocado oil works well at high heat.
  • Paprika – Smoked paprika adds a rich flavor, but regular paprika can be used.
  • Sauce Base – Mayonnaise makes it creamy; swap with Greek yogurt for a lighter dip.

Instructions

  1. Prepare Potatoes – Wash, peel (optional), and cut potatoes into thin fries.
  2. Soak & Dry – Place fries in cold water for 20 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat completely dry with paper towels.
  3. Season Fries – Toss potatoes in a bowl with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until well coated.
  4. Cook –
    • Oven: Spread fries evenly on a baking sheet. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
    • Air Fryer: Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes, shaking halfway.
  5. Make Sauce – In a small bowl, whisk mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, paprika, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Serve – Plate hot crispy fries with dipping sauce on the side.
