Spicy Cabbage and Rice Fritters

These Spicy Cabbage and Rice Fritters are crispy on the outside, soft inside, and packed with flavor. They’re perfect as a snack, appetizer, or vegetarian dinner and great for using leftover rice.

  • Frying pan

  • Spatula

🥘 Ingredients

🥬 Fritter Batter

  • 2 cups finely chopped cabbage

  • 1 cup cooked rice (leftover works best)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 green chilies, minced (adjust to taste)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander or parsley

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)

  • 2 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp red chili powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • ½ cup water (as needed)

  • Oil for frying


👩‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1: Mix Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, combine cabbage, cooked rice, onion, chilies, garlic, and herbs.

  2. Add flour, cornflour, turmeric, chili powder, pepper, and salt.

  3. Add water gradually to make a thick batter.


Step 2: Fry Fritters

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

  2. Scoop spoonfuls of batter and flatten slightly.

  3. Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.


Step 3: Drain & Serve

  • Remove fritters and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  • Serve hot with chutney or yogurt dip.
