Blue Lasagna with Cordon Chicken is a rich, comforting baked pasta inspired by classic chicken cordon bleu flavors — tender chicken, smoky ham, creamy white sauce, and lots of melted cheese layered between soft lasagna sheets. It’s perfect for family dinners, potlucks, or a premium recipe for your food website (great for UK/USA traffic since creamy chicken pasta dishes perform very well).

🧾 Ingredients

For the Chicken Filling

  • 3 cups cooked shredded chicken

  • 1 cup diced cooked ham

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella

  • ½ cup grated parmesan

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Creamy White Sauce

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 4 tbsp flour

  • 4 cups milk (warm)

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)

  • Salt & pepper

For Assembly

  • 12 lasagna noodles (cooked)

  • 2 cups extra mozzarella for topping

  • Fresh parsley (optional)


📝 Ingredient Notes (Important for Success)

  • Chicken: Rotisserie chicken works best for flavor and saves time.

  • Ham: Adds the “cordon bleu” signature smoky taste — turkey ham works too.

  • Milk: Use full-fat for a creamy restaurant-style sauce.

  • Cheese: Always shred your own mozzarella for smoother melting.


👩‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1 — Make the White Sauce

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.

  3. Slowly add warm milk while whisking continuously.

  4. Add cream, onion powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

  5. Cook until thick and smooth (about 5 minutes).


Step 2 — Prepare Filling

  1. In a bowl combine shredded chicken, ham, mozzarella, parmesan, and garlic powder.

  2. Mix well.


Step 3 — Assemble the Lasagna

  1. Spread a thin layer of white sauce in baking dish.

  2. Add noodles.

  3. Add chicken mixture.

  4. Pour sauce.

  5. Repeat layers 3 times.

  6. Finish with sauce and extra mozzarella.


Step 4 — Bake

  • Cover with foil and bake at 375°F / 190°C for 30 minutes

  • Remove foil and bake 15 minutes more until golden.

  • Rest 10 minutes before slicing.
