PART 2 — THE DOCTOR LOOKED AT THE ULTRASOUND AND REALIZED THE “PREGNANCY” WASN’T WHAT ANYONE THOUGHT
The room suddenly became silent.
The woman looked from one doctor to another.
“What’s wrong?”
The young doctor didn’t answer immediately.
He looked at the ultrasound screen again.
Then he asked quietly,
“Ma’am, are you absolutely certain you were told you were pregnant?”
“Yes,” she replied. “Five different tests confirmed it.”
The doctor nodded.
“We believe you.”
He swallowed.
“But there is something you need to understand.”
Her smile disappeared.
“What?”
The doctor pointed toward the monitor.
“The baby isn’t where it should be.”
Her heart began pounding.
“What do you mean?”
Another specialist entered the room.
He studied the scans for several seconds before asking the woman to remain completely still.
Then he said something that left everyone speechless.
“Your uterus is empty.”
The woman stared at him.
“Empty?”
“Yes.”
“Then where is my baby?”
The doctor hesitated.
“That is exactly what we’re trying to determine.”
A second scan was performed.
Then a third.
The doctors finally discovered a large mass near her abdomen.
At first, they feared the worst.
But then the specialist noticed something unusual.
The mass wasn’t a tumor.
It appeared to contain fluid, tissue…

The woman covered her mouth.
“My baby?”

The room went silent.
